MTN recently launched an up to the minute web and mobile app which is called WebPhone that is a substitute cost-friendly method of communication for constant travellers and for the people surviving in the diaspora.
The MTN webphone is a voice app that gives you the ability to call through the internet either from a mobile phone or a tablet.
The application is perfect for business travellers and international business people outside the country; and it also provides the exact call charge as local call rates, to any network in Uganda.
The application gives users the ability to make calls through the internet by signing up for a virtual *Web phone number” (032), which automatically becomes the unique username that is used to sign in to the PC or mobile app.
The mobile application’s smooth interface gives the user immediate access to their phone’s stored contacts as well as the selection to make calls with the webphone number(phone call) or the number of the SIM that is being used in the mobile device(Regular call).
The importance of utilizing the webphone number while calling from outside Uganda is that it is remarkably less expensive than any of the present substitute for making international calls to Uganda, and this makes it the perfect solution for most business travellers.
In a speech, Mr.Reginald Kafeero, the General Manager, MTN Business said; “We are pleased to introduce a product that offers convenience to our customers outside Uganda while dramatically reducing the cost of communication. This is in line with our commitment to offering our customers more value on all offers”.
The amazing potential to make calls to non-smartphone users
While the WebPhone depends on the internet, its users have the unmatched edge to make calls to people without mobile phones. This plays a major contrast between the WebPhone and other existing voice over IP (VoIP) apps.
