Realme rolls out the Realme XT immediately after the debut of the Realme 5 series. The XT packs an AMOLED screen just like its predecessor, but unlike the Realme X, we have a dot-notch camera and not a pop-up cam. The Chinese manufacturer has been releasing mobile devices at an alarming rate and still manages to fit unique features in each of them that make them worthwhile. In other news, the Realme XT comes with an amazing 64MP camera, and a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor acts as a selfie camera. Let’s take a look at the more incredible specs below.

Design and Display

The Realme XT sports a very aesthetic design with a decent build and lovely contour. The Realme XT is the first product from Realme that offers two pieces of Gorilla Glass 5 for protection. The screen utilizes a Diamond PenTile matrix and offers an ultra-high resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. Additionally, with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 402ppi pixel density, your eyes will thank you.

Moreover, the front panel glass is flat, while the rear panel glass is curved and syncs with the phone’s design beautifully. The Realme XT compliments the glass sandwich with a plastic build that fits in just right. Although a plastic build is prone to frequent scratches, the Realme is coated with aluminum paint on the sides to mitigate the effects.

The Realme XT features a 6.4″ Super AMOLED screen at the front with slim bezels that deliver a fluid display and a broad viewing angle. It is smaller than the 6.53″ Realme X but still delivers maximum viewing experience. Additionally, we get an under-display fingerprint sensor that is fully functional and reads quickly which eliminates a physical sensor and magnifies aesthetics. On the back panel, the curved Gorilla Glass 5 gives it a premium sheen that resonates with the gradient finish, simply a lovely sight to behold.

The camera island is found on the top left just like every other smartphone. Looking around, we’ll see the left side houses the triple card slot and the volume keys while the bottom is home to the USB-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. On the other hand, the right side holds solely the power key. The plastic frame provides a good grip to counteract the glass frame and it is actually lighter than the Realme X by about 8g. This goes to testify that less is more.

Realme XT Camera

The Realme XT has a camera setup that is identical to the Realme 5 Pro. The primary shooter utilizes the Samsung 64MP Quad Bayer sensor. The main camera is a large 1/1.72″ sensor with 0.8µm pixels and it features an f/1.8 26mm lens. The ultrawide camera covers over 119 degrees. We also get an 8MP module (1.12µm pixels) with an f/2.2 aperture. The camera also applies automatic distortion correction in photos when needed. Moreover, the 2MP unit is a depth sensor that helps with the bokeh rendering and enhances the contrast of pictures for sharper quality. The 2MP macro camera has a pixel size of about (1.75µm). Its lens can reach about 4cm away making macro-shots more effective.

The app has different modes such as Photo, Portrait, and Video modes. They offer advanced HDR improvements on the dynamic range and better color saturation for sublime picture quality. Additionally, we have 64MP Ultra Picture, Nightscape, Ultra Macro, Expert, Panorama, Time-lapse, and Slow-mo to suit every situation you can think of. The camera app offers digital zooming as the Realme XT does not have a telephoto lens. In the Expert mode, you get to modify exposure, white balance, manual focus, and exposure compensation.

The Realme XT has a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera with a fixed focus. Additionally, we get a ton of beauty enhancement options from eye enlargement to skin smoothing. Finally, selfies can also be taken using High Dynamic Imaging. As a result, more lively selfie shots are to be expected.

Battery and Performance

The Realme XT brings the Snapdragon 712 chipset to the table which is more powerful than Snapdragon 710 with a higher potential clock speed. The Snapdragon employs and high-performance octa-core consisting of 2×2.3 GHz Kryo 360 Gold & 6×1.7 GHz Kryo 360 Silver and it’s still the Adreno 616. Realme announced that the Realme XT has a 10% boost over other S710-powered devices.

In addition, the 712 has the same ISP as the Snapdragon 845 and the AI engine is 2 times faster than the one on the 710. Realme 5 XT utilizes UFS 2.1 storage which is faster than eMMC and reduces loading time across the system. If you have so many files that it surpasses the 64/128GB available space we also have 256GB expandable via the dedicated microSD slot. Finally, the Realme XT caps the CPU performance at about 90% when it is not in High-Performance Mode which is optional and can be found in the Battery Settings.

The Realme XT comes with a large 4000mAh battery which is bigger than the Realme X of 3765 mAh. The XT offers VOOC 3.0 fast charging via a 20W charger that comes in-box. This setup takes the device from flat to fully charged in less than 1hr 30mins. During testing, the XT delivered 16 hours of video playback and 13 hours of browsing the web. When standby time was added to the mix, a total endurance rating of 100 hours was achieved.

Connectivity

The Realme XT comes with 4G connectivity, Bluetooth, and USB alongside WiFi, Hotspot, and dual-dim capacity. We also get GPS via A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, and BDS. Although NFC is not available on this device, it doesn’t really matter to the majority of users worldwide.

Availability and Price

It is available for purchase at any nearby mobile retailer or store. It is also available on online platforms such as Jumia and Alibaba Express for easier purchase and can be delivered right to your doorstep. The Realme XT sells at a price of about N116,000 Naira.

Verdict

The Realme XT has a lot of categories in its merit. Firstly, it delivers excellent endurance and battery life. Secondly, it offers speedy charging and an amazing design. In addition, the massive 64MP camera gives you lucid and vivacious pictures. Even in processing power, the Realme XT is a champ. So if you’re looking to buy a high-end device with an awesome camera and powerful processing prowess, the Realme XT is perfect for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How good is a 64MP camera?

The individual pixel size gets reduced and four of these are clubbed under one pixel of overlaying Bayer’s filter (resulting in one bigger effective pixel). The overall size of the sensor is still significantly bigger than the usual 12MP or 16MP sensor, and that’s a good thing.

Is 64MP better than 50MP?

It all depends on the aperture and sensor used in the camera. It doesn’t depend on having more megapixels. Sometimes sensor and aperture used in 64 mp is worse than the sensor and aperture used in 50 mp and vice versa.

How many MP is a good phone camera?

How many megapixels is a good camera? The amount of megapixels that will suit most photographers’ needs is between 10-20 megapixels. If you don’t need to print or crop, megapixels won’t make too much of a difference for you.
