Now and in-depth analysis of what makes the A52 tick. The Samsung A52 does have a sibling the A52 5G

Design And Display

It is clear the Samsung Galaxy A52 is built with young people in mind the nicely polished sides and not protruding camera bump are going to leave a lasting impression. This phone’s build quality is solid and the responsiveness of the volume and power buttons are very enjoyable. It comes with the now-standard Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack
and bottom-firing speaker.

The SIM tray is located at the top and the volume and power buttons in the upper right corner are well-placed for the thumb.
Stereo speakers are also offered. The display houses a super AMOLED 6.5-inch screen that spits out 800 nits (advertised) and 407 ppi density which appears crisp and really enjoyable for watching videos or social media.

The fingerprint is housed in the display as well, though not as fast as the more popular physical fingerprint sensors it is good enough and has a face unlocking feature. The 90Hz refresh rate option is available on the device and makes everything even snappier.

Camera

The rear quad camera set up of the Samsung Galaxy A52 houses a 64mp main shooter, 12mp ultra-wide,
5mp (macro), 5mp (depth). The 64mp shooter is really where the difference is made as there are quite several phones with the hardware the A52 boasts but Samsung image processing is clearly the difference maker here.

The main camera is capable of 4k and 1080p videos with electronic image stabilization meaning you will get smoother videos even if your hands are not steady. The selfie shooter does not disappoint as well as shots taken appeared crisp and bright. It’s no surprise that this is a strong point of the A52 since Samsung has been developing camera sensors for years and even selling to other phone makers. The only complaints are with night shots that seem to have uneven light glares which should be
expected at this price point.

Battery And Performance

The 4500MAh battery of the Samsung A52 can stand abuse and can take you through 8 hours of heavy use. The downside is that the Samsung A52 comes out of the box with only a 15-watt charging brick even though the phone is capable of doing 25 watts (stinker). The included charger will take about 2hrs, and 20mins to juice up the phone. If you want anything faster you would have to get a new 25 watts brick.

The A52 is powered by the SDM 720G (8nm) which is very adequate for pretty much everything you throw at it the
SDM 720G is a very good processor and has featured in devices like the Realme 8 Pro and Redmi Note 9S. The chipset handles multitasking, social media, and even heavy game titles very well. The 720G sits on the upper end of the 700 series of midrange chipsets offered by Snapdragon. It is helped along by the uncluttered one U.I 3.1 which is very clean when compared with other Android skin used by other phone companies, this helps to speed things up as there are very few amounts of annoying popup ads as seen in plenty of cheap to mid-range Chinese phone brands.

The 8nm process which is not the newest or best nanometer process is good for this price point which still features a
lot of 11nm processors. This means better battery efficiency and less heat, equaling better performance.
When it comes to performance expect the Samsung Galaxy A52 to handle itself like a champ but keep your expectations in check if you are coming from the flagship end of things the A52 is not immortal.

Connectivity

Remember when I said that the A52 has a sibling well the 5G variant of the Samsung A52 comes with a snapdragon 75OG chipset and a 120HZ refresh rate. That is not to say that the lack of 5G connectivity is a deal-breaker, I mean how many people have even gotten a very strong 4G connection? The 4G connection is just fine by any standard.
The A52 also features NFC which is good to have if you live in countries where contactless payment is a thing.
Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band wifi are slapped on top too. These had no issues during use.

Price and Availability

The Galaxy A52 is priced at 150,000 NGN for the base memory option and goes up as the memory increases. This smartphone is currently available in stores and online retailers so is just a matter of preferred options.

Verdict

Samsung Galaxy A52 is an excellent device with everything you need in a daily driver except for one aspect, the price. The Samsung A52 offers identical hardware configuration to a lot of competitors like Redmi, Realme, and Oppo to mention a few, the competition in the mid-range section is cut-throat where more and more stuff is offered for less and less, so a few extra thousands added to the retail price could be the difference between the success of a device because of the plenty other options available. Apart from that, every other thing sits right.
